Kaizer Chiefs clash key in title chase says Alexander

Cole Alexander says Wits were focused on catching Absa Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the enforced lockdown.

The Clever Boys headed into the break, as a result of the coronavirus, in a healthy sixth place.

Gavin Hunt's side are currently 10 points adrift of Amakhosi and having played a game less.

They last defeated lowly Black Leopards 1-0, ahead of a 0-0 draw with Chippa United, 2-0 loss to SuperSport, and 2-2 draw with Highlands Park.

Not exactly the form of champions, but Cole feels his side was building up some important momentum.

"I think we were on a good run before the lockdown," the Wits midfielder told the SowetanLIVE.

"We had some good momentum and had won our last few games.

"We were doing well, and we had two important matches coming up. We still had to play Chiefs (twice) and Pirates.

"It was crucial games and it could have decided a lot of things for us in terms of still wanting to win the league."
