Josephs: I was offered coaching role at Wits

Cape Town - AmaZulu goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has revealed that he was on the verge of taking a role in Gavin Hunt's backroom staff before signing for Usuthu.

The 38-year old goalkeeper stated that he had already accepted a player/coach role at Wits, but still had the passion to continue as a player after AmaZulu approached him.

The veteran shot stopper has started four of Usuthu's five games in the new season.

“They offered me a new contract at Wits and I will always be grateful, you know they have been good to me over the years," Josephs told SuperSport.

“It was a three-year deal where it was going to go into a player/coach and I was happy to sign it.

“I still say it up to today, that it's by the grace of God that I'm at Amazulu because I was destined to sign that contract.

“We had agreed terms verbally, everything and we were about to draw the contract, but out of nowhere, Amazulu came and approached us. They asked if I would like to come and join their club.

“As I player, I still had this fire and this passion to play and I spoke to my family about the option and that's how I moved to Durban, but I will always be grateful to Wits. They have been wonderful to me.

“But I'm at Amazulu now and hopefully the journey is positive and full of blessings.”
