Cape Town - SAFA President Danny Jordaan has urged local football lovers to get behind Oscarine Masuluke in a bid for the Baroka FC goalkeeper to secure the Puskas award.

The annual FIFA awards ceremony to be held in London on the 23rd of October will see either Musuluke, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud or Venezuela’s Deyna Castellanos walk away with the prestigious prize - after the three made the final nominations process.

The Bakgaga goalkeeper scored a last minute bicycle-kick against Orlando Pirates to secure a 1-1 draw in the South African Premiership and Jordaan feels his effort is worthy of becoming the first African player to win the trophy.

"We must play our part in ensuring that Masuluke makes history by becoming the first African footballer to bring such an award home," Jordaan told reporters.

"A win for Oscar is a win for Africa; this is not about which club a person supports or which country they are from.

"It is about giving African football the recognition that it deserves and this is why we urge each and every African to vote for Oscarine."
