Cape Town - South African footballing legend Jomo Sono believes Nkanyiso Zungu has all the attributes to become a top player for Orlando Pirates for years to come.
Zungu, who has been impressive in the centre of the park for Stellenbosch FC in their maiden season in the Absa Premiership, joined Pirates on a three-year deal on transfer deadline day.
Sono mentored Zungu during the latter's time at Jomo Cosmos, where Sono is still owner-coach. And in that time, the Ezenkosi coach saw enough to know that Zungu would be a big-name player for years to come.
"He's one player I love so much. He's the best passer of the ball in this country. He can play a pass [from] 40 yards, 50 yards. He reminds me of Ernest Chirwali and Roger Feutmba," Sono told SowetanLive of Zungu.
"He's got good physique, he works very hard. he's skilful as well, he can go past people and he takes shots. Even in dead-ball situations I used to send him to hammer them. For me, this is the best signing. they [Pirates] have had this season."
