Johnson salutes plucky Steenberg

Cape Town - Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson has saluted ABC Motsepe outfit Steenberg United for pushing them to the wire in their Nedbank Cup Last-32 clash.

Dinwena overcame the resilient Cape based team 5-4 on penalties after being held to a 1-1 draw during regulation time on Friday evening.

A penalty miss from former Bafana Bafana international Terror Fanteni spared Dikwena's blushes at the Athlone Stadium.

"You know it's always difficult to play against the lower division teams; you don't know what to expect," Johnson told KickOff.

"However, we tried our best under the circumstances. There were moments where we showed that we are a PSL team. We pushed hard and went to penalties.

"I believe the game was a good advert for Nedbank and our football in the country. Credit to the boys...we were victorious and managed to advance to the next stage of the competition."
