Jembula calls for better defending

Cape Town - Polokwane City midfielder Sipho Jembula lamented his team's defensive display in their 2-1 loss to SuperSport United in the Premiership on Wednesday.

Rise and Shine took the lead in the sixth minute of the clash, but were condemned to their second consecutive league defeat after goals from Cole Alexander and Jeremy Brockie gave the home side the victory.

"I think we need to focus on defending because in attack we are dangerous, but I think we got to fix that," Jembula said after the match.

Luc Eymael's side have scored the second-most goals (19) in the league behind Matsatsantsa (21), with Jembula netting three times this season and he believes City took their foot off the pedal after taking the lead early on.

"I think we started well. The only thing we didn't do, we didn't capitalise on the chances we got," the 30-year-old added. "We just got one and relaxed. I think we need to learn from that."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
