Jelusic pleased with performance despite Bucs loss

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic coach Veselin Jelusic believes Lorenzo Gordinho's red card in the second half during the 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday evening ultimately cost his team the points.

With the scores tied at 1-1 in the 68th minute and while Celtic were holding their own in all departments, Gordinho saw red for a seemingly contentious professional foul on Thamsanqa Gabuza.

In the game, Musa Nyatama opened the scoring before the red-carded player found the equaliser before heading off for an early shower. Substitute Augustine Mulenga turned out to be the hero as he rifled home a superb late winner in the 77th minute.

Nonetheless, despite a defeat which sees Siwelele drop out of the top eight into ninth position, Jelusic says he was happy with his team's overall display though the sending off changed things.

He told SuperSport: "I'm very happy about our performance. We tried to play an open game but we had a few chances to score and we didn't.

"The result is not good for us, but as I said I’m satisfied with the commitment of our players. Yes, we wanted to come closer and scored the goal but after that, we got a red card and the situation was no longer the same.

"It was much more difficult. Even with a player less, we tried to achieve a better result but unfortunately, we didn’t."
