Cape Town - Happy
Jele says his Orlando Pirates team-mates had to dig deep while playing
behind closed doors to clinch a 4-0 win over Bidvest Wits on Wednesday
night.
An own-goal by Sifiso Hlanti gave Pirates the lead as early as the 12th minute while Augustine Mulenga registered a brace, with Justin Shonga scoring the other goal.
The victory for the Soweto giants has taken the Premiership title race to the wire in the remaining two games after leaders Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 2-2 draw by Maritzburg United, also on Wednesday.
The Buccaneers are in second position with 52 points and trail Sundowns by four going into the final games of the campaign.
Jele feels scoring two early goals against Wits helped his side grow in confidence as the match progressed to eventually secure their biggest victory of the 2017/18 season.
Jele told SuperSport: "It was tough in the field. It was not an easy game, but we managed to get the results.
"So we are very happy. The only thing is that we have to focus for the next game.
Yeah, it was a good start because we managed to score three goals in the first half.
"Second half they came and wanted to score some goals, but we were able to manage them. They got a penalty, but the keeper saved it.
"It was a great performance from our team and we just have to focus on Saturday’s game."
