Cape Town - Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele says they are looking forward to returning to action this weekend after using the international break to work on their shortcomings this season.

The Soweto giants have been a shadow of the team they were last season as currently sit in eighth place in the league standings and have the second-worst defensive record so far.

The Buccaneers were also knocked out of the MTN8 and CAF Champions League tournaments early on and Jele says the FIFA break came at the right time for the team to regroup.

Jele said, according to quotes published on KickOff: "We have been doing a lot of things [during the international break].

"Checking all the mistakes we have been doing, checking the things we have been doing as a team, trying to do the right things in the right step.

"So far it's been good, and we are looking forward to going back and working."

Pirates take on Stellenbosch FC in a Telkom Knockout clash at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
