Jele: Bucs not out for revenge

Johannesburg - Happy Jele says Orlando Pirates won't look for revenge but vital points when battling it with league title-contending Bidvest Wits in a crucial Premiership encounter at Bidvest Stadium on Thursday night at 19:30.

The resurgent Buccaneers, who kept their top-eight hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Chippa United in Saturday's league clash, have lost twice to The Clever Boys this season.

Gavin Hunt's troops knocked out the Bucs in the MTN 8 quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory earlier this season, while edging the Soweto giants with a same score-line in the league's first round clash in February.

Jele exclusively told Vodacom Soccer: "Yes, they [Wits] have beaten us two times this season, but I don't see them beating us for the third time this time around. There is no doubt that they have been a much competitive team this season, that has given us tough time.

"But we have gradually regained our form under coach Jonevret (Kjell), and we are prepared to go all out in fighting for vital points in our five remaining games.

"So, we are not going for a revenge against Wits, but for vital points that we badly need."

The 30-year-old long-serving Bucs right-back converted centre-back is also well aware that their five remaining games will not be easy.

"We are left with five crucial games to finish the season, and to consolidate our top-eight berth we will need to come out with vital points from these remaining games," added the Mpumalanga-born towering defender.

Just after Thursday's clash against Clever Boys, Bucs will take on another league title-contender in Mamelodi Sundowns in Sunday's highly-awaited encounter at Orlando Stadium.
