Cape Town - Polokwane City confirmed that midfielder Nazier Mogamat Jacobs was involved in a car accident over the weekend.
"Firstly Polokwane City FC would like to officially put it on record that Nazier Mogamat Jacobs was indeed involved in a car accident on Friday midnight into Saturday morning the timing of the event is still sketchy at the moment," said the club in a statement.
"The club has been working with the police and the family to try and put the puzzles of what happened on that morning together and also to seek closure hence the delay of a statement from our side.
"The situation on its own is incomprehensible thus we had to wait for the right time following the police’s investigations.
"Kaka as he is popularly known in the sporting fraternity is currently receiving the best care possible from a private hospital in the province of Limpopo and he is in a critical but manageable state.
"The club would like to thank the staff, players, family and supporters for all the overwhelming messages. We do acknowledge every single one of them and would like to urge anyone with a special message to Nazier to kindly drop them on our twitter page: @Polokwane_City."
