Thabang Monare says Kaizer Chiefs should be crowned Absa Premiership champions if the league is unable to continue.
Amakhosi entered the current enforced 21-day lockdown as a result of the coronavirus on top of the log standings.
With 22 games played, the Soweto side are four points clear of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns but having played a game more.
Every effort will be made to finish the league this year, but it wholly depends on South Africa's efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19.
The Bidvest Wits midfielder, Monare, who is currently training on his own at home, told ENCA: "Look, if the league has to stop now, I think it’s only fair to crown the team that is on top of the league table.
"I mean no one planned for this (coronavirus) and it's like nature and things are the way they are at this time and there is no turning back or going forward, so they should be crowned.
"There is no other thing for us to do."
