Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt was impressed with the recent shift put in by some of his players as their double challenge gathers pace.

The Clever Boys' boss has had to contend with several long-term injuries in recent months, but has slowly started to welcome back players.

Last week they thrashed ABC Motsepe League side Magesi FC 6-0 with Daine Klate starring.

Hunt also entrusted former captain Sibusiso Vikakazi with the armband after Thulani Hlatshwayo was ruled out of the game.

The 51-year-old coach was impressed with the way his team applied themselves to advance to the last-eight stage, even with the small squad he has.

"You can see he (Vilakazi) is short of ninety minutes and he was second to the ball all the time," Hunt said of the Bafana bafana attacker. "But that is expected to any player.

"You know we have Phakamani (Mahlambi) out, Papy Faty out, Buhle (Mkhwanazi) out, Tyson (Thulani Hlatshwayo) out and big players and we miss big players again and again.

"We have small squad and we will take everybody at the moment."

The former Supersport United coach is also vying for the Premiership title and sits four points behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
