Hunt not focusing on title chase

Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt insists his charges aren't expending energy on thinking about the title race but are instead focusing on their next game.

The Clever Boys remain outside contenders to make a late surge towards the top end of the Absa Premiership standings but Hunt reckons it's counter-productive to dream of winning the league.

Wits beat bottom-of-the-table Black Leopards 1-0 on Tuesday night to close the gap to Kaizer Chiefs to 10 points, while Wits have a game in hand over them.

"We just keep going, we can't worry about that [winning the league]. We've got 10 games left so we just keep going and worry about the next game, it's one of those things. We just prepare and go again," said Hunt, as quoted by KickOff.

Hunt's men have a Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Real Kings with which to contend on Friday, before resuming their league campaign against Chiefs next week Wednesday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
