Hunt demands more from Klate

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has called on veteran winger Daine Klate to play more of an influential role for the Premiership log leaders.

Klate was brought in by the Clever Boys at the beginning of the season to inject some experience into the youthful squad. Hunt is well aware of the 30-year-old's leadership qualities having worked with him when they were both at SuperSport United.

However, despite already contributing four goals and five assists to lead the club's scoring and assist charts, Hunt knows that, as one of the leaders in the team, Klate will need to work even harder to guide Wits to success.

"I've been telling him every week he's not scoring enough goals," Hunt told KickOff.

"When he was with me at SuperSport, he used to score eight to 10 in a season, so we need to get him back to that. So far he's scored three or four, which is good.

"If we win things then we can say things but winning games is nothing. We need to win the MTN8; we needed to win the Telkom Knockout, but we didn't, so it's all about winning."

Wits will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the league table in their clash against Golden Arrows on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
