Hunt believes Tau merits 'Messi' praise

Cape Town - Wits coach Gavin Hunt has heaped praise on Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau for displaying the type of skill that Barcelona's Lionel Messi is capable of.

The 23-year-old produced an audacious moment of individual brilliance in the Brazilians' 1-0 victory over Cape Town City last weekend that led to Khama Billiat's volleyed winner.

The attacker showed pace and power at driving into the Citizens box before producing a drag-back scoop to pass which led to Billiat volleying home with power.

As such, an excited Hunt said such talent deserved to be given the same attention as some of the exploits of Messi.

"What Percy Tau did was unbelievable. I have never (see it) in my life," Hunt began to explain.

"If Messi did that it would be in the front pages. What he did was unbelievable.

"To flick the ball up like that and flick it back inside, I mean‚ jeez, unbelievable! I really think that he (Tau) is fantastic, you know."

Recently Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has been adamant that the player deserves to be named South Africa's Footballer of the Year.

In 20 league appearances so far this season, the Bafana Bafana international has seven goals and numerous assists as well.
