Honours even in PE as Chippa, Polokwane play to goalless draw

Cape Town  - It was honours even at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday evening as Chippa United and Polokwane City played to a goalless draw in the Absa Premiership.

The Chilli Boys went into this midweek encounter aiming to secure their first Premiership win of the season, after recording two draws and one defeat in their opening three fixtures.

Polokwane, meanwhile, were high on confidence, thanks to two wins from their opening three games, not to mention an impressive 2-0 triumph over Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarter-finals on 17 August.

However, they were unable to find their scoring touch in Port Elizabeth as an obstinate Chippa defence frustrated Rise and Shine's forwards throughout.

The result sees Polokwane lose ground on the early-season pacesetters, three points shy of unbeaten Kaizer Chiefs, but level on points with fourth-placed SuperSport United.

Chippa, on the other hand, are just one point clear of the drop zone and still looking for their first league win of the campaign.
