Hlatswayo: No excuses this season

Cape Town - Thulani Hlatswayo has highlighted the importance of pre-season training, whilst also highlighting that Bidvest Wits have to challenge for honours.

Speaking to his club's official website, the player, known as 'Tyson' in the football fraternity, spoke of the importance of pre-season training for everybody at the club.

"Pre-season has been great so far and everyone is working hard," he said.

"As a footballer, you can't miss pre-season. Even if you are injured there are parts of training you have to participate in and complete the pre-season along side your team mates."

The former Ajax Cape Town man also said that he is 'ready to start the new season' after suffering an injury to his hip, which has sidelined hime since the beginning of March.

"Everything is looking good. After a good break in Malaysia, I'm ready to start the new season," the 26-year-old added.

"I am happy to be here with the team, knowing that I got injured at the end of the season and missed some vital games. It's something that did not sit well with me and as the captain of the team, I felt I was absent when the team needed me the most."

The Bafana Bafana defender concluded by saying that Gavin Hunt's men 'don't have any excuses to try and not challenge for any trophy,' after missing out on the Absa Premiership trophy for the last two seasons.

"Obviously, as a team we would like to do better than last season.

"Two seasons ago we finished third last season we finished second, and now all that's left to do is win. This season we don't have any excuses to try and not challenge for any trophy."
