Cape Town - Thulani Hlatshwayo admits Bidvest Wits need to start doing better at home if they intend to challenge for the Absa Premiership title again.

The Clever Boys have impressed on the road this season but have struggled to perform at home, winning only four of their nine league games in front of their own supporters.

Gavin Hunt's men dropped points at home again last week Wednesday, when Highlands Park came away with a 2-2 draw, but Hlatshwayo is determined to turn Bidvest Stadium into a fortress as they did when they won the league three seasons ago.

"In order for us to stay up there with the chasing pack, we need to get the results at home. It looks like we are good travellers, having gotten a lot of points away than we’ve done here at home," Hlatshwayo said, according to IOL.

"We just have to take the motivation when we won the league (three seasons ago) because then we won all of our home games."

Wits are fifth in the Absa Premiership standings, 11 points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs, but have two games in hand over the Soweto giants.

Their next game will be at home against Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 on Monday night, February 24.

Hlatshwayo added: "We are disappointed with the result in the league game. So, it's important for us to bounce back because we haven't been playing well at home. But against Chippa, there must be a winner and we are hoping to use the experience that we got in Africa."
