Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has hailed close friend and Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele as a 'genuine leader'.
The Bafana captain has been linked with a move to Pirates for some time now as the Buccaneers look to find a suitable partner for Jele in the heart of their defence.
And while there is no love lost on the football field, Hlatshwayo reveals that the two are very good friends off it.
"It was a bit nerve-wracking to meet with him, but I got to like him," Hlatshwayo told Far Post.
"He is driven by family and our wives and kids know each other, so we've become good family friends.
"We speak quite often over the phone. He is a family man and a very loyal man. He is a genuine leader.
"He can adjust to any setting or conversation. He makes everyone comfortable around him.
"We have the same personality as we're both introverts.
"Discipline, loyalty and consistency has kept him in the game for so long. I want him to win his first trophy as captain."
Hlatshwayo also praised Jele for the character shown to bounce back from a career-threatening injury.
"Looking at how bad the injury was and to be able to play as if nothing ever happened, he took rehab seriously. It shows determination," he concluded.
