Cape Town - Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo says his team will be better prepared for the Premiership challenge in the upcoming season.
The Clever Boys lost out on the league title by a 14-point margin to Mamelodi Sundowns, who finished the 2015/16 campaign with a record 71 points.
Wits have invested in quality players in the last few seasons and are still looking for their first title.
"I think as a team we are a physical side and we will intimidate our opponents," Hlatshwayo told Goal.
"We just have to continue with our strategy of taking it one game at a time. It's going to be an interesting season for the supporters, and everyone associated with the game - teams will come out guns blazing to challenge for trophies.
"We are gelling together as a team now and by the second round, we have to be on top and ensure we don't drop points."
Looking ahead to next week's Premiership oener against Kaizer Chiefs, he added: "We know their strengths and weaknesses, but it's going to be a test for us. We have seen them play, they have good individuals and we will just ensure our game plan will be proper on the day."
The university club will open their season against Kaizer Chiefs at the Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday.
