Gyimah escapes serious injury after car crash

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Edwin Gyimah has reportedly escaped serious injury after being involved in a car accident in the early hours of Monday.

According to reports from Ghana, Gyimah was driving a Hyundai Sonata Saloon car when he had a head-on-collision with a taxi in his hometown of Obuasi.

The 25-year-old was said to be in the company of a female passenger by the name of Linda Owusu when the accident took place. It's reported that the player suffered cuts and bruises while his female companion was rushed to hospital for treatment on more serious injuries.

It is not known at this point in time if there were any injuries or fatalities suffered in terms of those in the taxi. However, it appears that the Bucs star has not suffered any major physical impairment, and will likely return to the club in the New Year in good physical condition.

The player's agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that Gyimah's life was not in danger. He told PowerSport: "He is fine. He is bruised a little bit but he is fine.

"He had to be treated obviously. I can say it confidently that there is no permanent damage."

The Ghana international has made 10 Premiership appearances for the Sea Robbers in 2016/17, and is expected to have a major role to play in the second half of the campaign.
