Gyimah: Bucs focused on Nedbank Cup

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Edwin Gyimah admits that the team’s priority is the Nedbank Cup rather than the Premiership.

The Buccaneers are sixth in the table and will face Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Pirates will want to secure a top-eight finish in the league and clinch the cup competition in order to qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup.

Against Chippa United on Wednesday, Pirates will aim to consolidate their spot in the top half of the league.

"The Nedbank Cup is a trophy that all players at the club are aiming for since the league has been out of our hands for a while now, and achieving a respectable position is all we can hope for," Gyimah told KickOff.

"The Nedbank Cup is the only thing that we could achieve for our fans, management and the entire Pirates family to be happy. I also need to win trophies for the club and make history."

Meanwhile, the tickets for the Nedbank Cup semi-final fixture between Stars and Pirates are sold out.
