Gumede: I need to keep working

Cape Town - Tshepo Gumede was handed a rare start for Orlando Pirates opening Absa Premiership match of 2016 against his former club Platinum Stars at the weekend.

Gumede, who last started for the Buccaneers in a league match back in April 2015, didn’t put a foot wrong in his full shift alongside Ayanda Gcaba, earning himself a Man of the Match award in the process.

“I am happy with have been given a chance to play,” said Gumede on the club’s website.

“Personally I'm still a work in progress, there's plenty of quality in the team. I just need to keep working and wait for my turn.

“I haven’t played in while so this is an opportunity I had to grab with both hands.

“The man of the match award is good and will motivate me to work harder. I hope it will inspire me to cement my place in the side.
