Grobler sidelined with long-term injury

Cape Town - SuperSport United have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Telkom Knockout clash with Kaizer Chiefs with the news Bradley Grobler is out with a long-term injury.

Grobler scored three times over two legs as Matsatsantsa knocked the Glamour Boys out of the recent MTN8 semi-finals.

Coach Kaitano Tembo would undoubtedly have hoped to have the player available for the Telkom Knockout quarter-final against Amakhosi.

However, after undergoing a groin operation, the striker is expected to miss the rest of 2018.

"No doubt I have the best job in the world but it def has its ups and downs. 2 years ago, I had my left groin repaired and today the right side has be successful repaired [sic]. I will once again be out of action for a while, but it will be worth it," Grobler wrote on Twitter on Monday night.

"I would like to thank the whole @SuperSportFC family from management, medical team, supporters, coaching staff and the players for all the support they have given me."

The quarter-final clash between Chiefs and United will take place on Sunday at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
