Gordinho puzzled by poor start

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho admits to being baffled by the sub-standard start to the season, after losses in the two opening games.

Chiefs are yet to taste victory this season after a 2-1 loss to Wits in their league opener and their early elimination in the MTN8 at the hands of PRemiership newcomers Cape Town City FC in the quarter-finals.

"I am surprised because we came back [for the new season] and we were confident. The team chemistry and the spirit was high," Gordinho said as quoted by the Sowetan Live

"We were ready for the new season, but it just shows you that you can never really know what will happen. It's disappointing that we are out of the MTN8, but there are other cups to compete for, [and] the league as well."

Chiefs will face Platinum Stars in the Premiership at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

"It's the first home game of the season and we have not started in the best way and the pressure is high.

"We know Platinum Stars are always a tough challenge for us, but we will do our game plan accordingly so that we can have an upper hand."
