Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed defender Lorenzo Gordinho has joined domestic rivals Bloemfontein Celtic on a one-year loan deal.

Gordinho, 23, recently lost his place in the Amakhosi starting XI after missing several weeks early in the campaign with a fractured rib.

It came as an untimely blow for the South Africa international defender who racked up 61 appearances and scoring seven goals since graduating from the club's academy in 2013.

"Kaizer Chiefs would like to confirm that defender Lorenzo Gordinho has been loaned to Bloemfontein Celtic on a one-year deal," read a statement on the club's official website.

"We wish him all the best during this tenure."
