Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the exit of striker Ryan Moon who failed to trouble the scorers in the 2018/19 campaign for the Glamour Boys.
Moon was mainly used as a bit-part player though he did make 18 appearances for the club during what was a disastrous season by Chiefs' normally high standards.
The outfit from Soweto finished outside of the MTN8 places in ninth and lost in the Nedbank Cup final to National First Division outfit TS Galaxy.
The 22-year-old struggled to make a mark for Amakhosi and could not get his name on the scoresheet in the limited opportunities he did receive.
Hopes were high that Moon could build on the four goals he scored in five matches in 2017/18 which came between January and February last year.
The brother of former Premiership star Bryce Moon could not cement a place in the team under previous mentor Giovanni Solinas, though he did get more chances under current incumbent Ernst Middendorp.
Nonetheless, with his deal expiring at Naturena, Amakhosi management have deemed he is surplus to requirements and Moon is now a free agent ahead of 2019/20.
Moon NOT renewed. Kaizer Chiefs will not be exercising the option to extend Ryan Moon’s three-year contract when it expires on 30 June 2019. Good luck & thank you for your service, Ryan. More updates will follow in the next few days. #Amakhosi4Life pic.twitter.com/ef6U8VqcSY
