Furman tips SuperSport for success

Cape Town - SuperSport United midfielder Dean Furman says the club will look to maintain their progress after gaining momentum in the latter stages of the 2015/16 campaign.

Matsatsansa were facing the prospect of a disappointing season prior to the arrival of Stuart Baxter, with the side languishing in the wrong end of the table.

However, Baxter managed to turn around the fortunes of the Tshawne-based outfit, as they finished in the top eight and secured silverware in the form of the Nedbank Cup.

"When the coach [Stuart Baxter] came in, we had to re-assess our goals slightly and we had to say that the league is out of reach, but the top eight was within our reach. We got that and we said the Nedbank Cup could be one for us and we got that," he told the Sowetan Live.

The club captain says the renewed sense of optimism around the club will hold them in good stead this upcoming season and, following several marquee signings, they will surely challenge for top honors.

"We improved vastly, so for us having finished the season on a high, we hope we can take that momentum into the new season.

"I don't want to give away too much, but we've signed some terrific players like Yeye [Reneilwe Letsholonyane], Cole [Alexander]... they are good with the ball going forward."
