Furman delighted with win

Cape Town - SuperSport United captain Dean Furman described their 1-0 victory in the Premiership over Ajax Cape Town at Athlone Stadium as a huge result.

After a difficult start to the season, in which Matsatsantsa only managed one win in their first six league games, the club is starting to show signs of life and extended their unbeaten run in the league to four games with the win over the Urban Warriors.

The Pretoria club took an early lead through Thuso Phala, but had to hold out for just over half an hour with 10-men after Kingston Nkhatha and showed character in doing so.

"This was a huge result for us. I think that takes us to four games unbeaten in the league," Furman told KickOff.

"We really showed great character, especially going down to ten men. Once again we are disappointed with the decision, we felt it was very soft. But we had to dig deep and we did that.

"We knew Ajax are a good side and got a threat all over the park. They threw balls into our box and we defended with our lives. We are delighted to come away with the win," he concluded.

The win moves SuperSport up to ninth in the table.

Their next assignment is a trip to struggling University of Pretoria.
