FS Stars announce Lavagne head coach

Cape Town - Free State Stars have confirmed that Denis Lavagne will take over the reigns from former coach Gianni Solinas, who has since returned to Italy for personal reasons.

The 51-year-old Frenchman arrives at the club with a wealth of experience having coached several clubs on the African continent including the likes of Coton Sport (Cameroon), Etiole Du Sahel (Tunisia), Al Itthiad Alexandra (Egypt), Masde Fes (Morocco) as well as a stint in charge at the Cameroon national team.

Stars made the announcement of Lavagne's appointment on their official website with general manager, Rantsi Mokoena citing the Frenchman's impressive resume as a major factor in him leading the squad for the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season.

"We are delighted to welcome Denis Lavagne to Free State Stars,” said General Manager Rantsi Mokoena.

"Of all the candidates we interviewed for the job, his resume stood out.

"With his experience and his achievements, I have no doubt we have appointed the right man for the job."

Lavagne will look to improve on the Bethlehem based outfits 12th-placed position in the last campaign.
