Freese: We were prepared for Uni. of Pretoria

Thembisa - Highlands Park head coach Allan Freese said that they were well prepared for the outgoing Absa Premiership outfit, University of Pretoria, following their impressive 1-0 victory over the weekend.

The Thembisa-based team have put one foot forward for their top flight glory and have piled more miseries on AmaTuks after claiming all three points in the PSL/NFD relegation and promotion play-offs at the Makhulong Stadium on Saturday.

Jose Garcia’s stunning strike from a free-kick was sufficient enough to hand the Lions of the North their second consecutive win in the mini league and send them to the top of the log.

The former Platinum Stars mentor believes that his charges’ are closer to achieve their dream of playing in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) next season, but they will not get carried away as they still have two remaining games to play.

“Like I said from the beginning, we really planned for that game,” said Freese.

“We have put a lot of efforts for the results we got out of that game.

“We didn’t score from an open play but it was a brilliant free kick by Jose (Garcia).

“I’m so happy because the supporters came in numbers to watch good football and we won at home.

“We didn’t attack too much especially in the first half and we could have scored more goals.

“Overall I’m really happy for the boys because they are now closer to their dream of playing in the PSL.

“But now the most important thing is the next game, we need to settle down a bit and then start focusing on the next game.”

The Lions of the North will be looking to continue their fine form when they host second placed Mbombela United at the Makhulong Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
