Cape Town - Maritzburg United captain Bevan Fransman has called on his team to put the loss to Wits behind them in order to maintain their impressive season.
The Team of Choice failed to leapfrog Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership standings following the Wednesday's defeat, and the lanky skipper feels it is important to bounce back immediately as they prepare to host Cape Town City at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday evening.
Fransman, who recently returned from suspension, said it is important for his side to get back to winning ways for them to maintain their remarkable season under the mentorship of Fadlu Davids.
United are also in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup where they have been drawn against Mamelodi Sundowns.
They will draw inspiration from the first round match where they beat City 4-2 in Cape Town.
Fransman told his club website: “We have to take the Bidvest Wits loss on the chin.
“Take nothing away from the free kick Keegan Ritchie scored, which left us to chasing the game.
“We managed to have most of the possession against Wits, but they did well to defend and keep out our attacks.
“Now we have to make sure we start winning again and get the momentum going into the last five games of the league season.”
