Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba has resurfaced at first division club Royal Eagles.

The 33-year-old made his debut for his new club in a 2-2 draw with Real Kings last Saturday after signing a one-year contract.

Gcaba departed the now defunct Platinum Stars at the conclusion of the 2017/2018 season and has not played professionally ever since.

"I always knew that I'd get a chance to revive my career. God is great all the time, so I never lost hope," Gcaba said, as quoted by the Sowetan.

"Football has it's ups and downs, but I have no regrets, looking at my previous teams. I am happy to be at Eagles. Mine now is to do what I do best. that's playing football. I value this opportunity and I am willing to fight for the team going forward."

The former Bafana international, who played 190 games in the top-flight of South Africa football, believes he can use his experience to help guide the youngsters at Royal Eagles.

"I want to use my experience to help my team-mates."
