Former Chiefs midfielder returns for Team of Choice

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Buchanan has returned to full fitness from a knee injury and is back in training with Maritzburg United.

In July last year Buchanan signed a three-year deal with Maritzburg under then coach Fadlu Davids.

The diminutive playmaker had earlier spent two seasons at Chiefs in 2016/17 and 2017/18 where he struggled for playing time and also battled with injury.

However, early into his spell with United he suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury and was ruled out of the entirety of 2018/19.

The player has suffered three major knee injuries in his career but now has a chance to realise the potential he showed during his time with Bloemfontein Celtic.

United coach Eric Tinkler told KickOff of his return: "Yes he is (back at training).

"He's back to full training. He is a squad member. Obviously he's got a contract with the club so he's not going anywhere, he is a contracted player.

"He was out injured the whole season and now it's pre-season and he's back."
