Former Bafana coach offered Stars job - report

Cape Town - Recently sacked Highlands Park head coach Gordon Igesund has been offered the chance to coach Free State Stars in their remaining few games of the season.

Ea Lla Koto are involved in a relegation battle near the bottom of the Premiership table and desperately need to start winning to change their fortunes.

According to Soccer Laduma website, the former Bafana Bafana mentor has been approached by Stars, although the publication say that the 60-year-old is unlikely to take up the role.

Recently the likes of Owen da Gama and Allan Freese have been linked with the position, although the former Bloemfontein Celtic coach is still contracted to the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) while the latter recently took control of Royal Eagles.

Stars recently reshuffled the side's technical team by appointing David Vilakazi as the assistant coach to current head coach Serame Letsoaka.

Stars are currently 14th in the Premiership standings and sit one point ahead of the relegation zone, which features the Lions of the North in last place and Baroka in 15th.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
