Cape Town - Bidvest
Wits coach Gavin Hunt says it was commitment and desire rather than
quality football that helped his team beat SuperSport United 4-1 on
Saturday.
The Students came back from a goal down at the break to score four second half goals against Matsatsantsa in Pretoria on Saturday evening.
It was the defending champions' third win in four matches but only their fifth all season, the result taking them four points clear of the relegation zone.
At this stage of the season and with the relegation threat not yet completely staved off, Hunt admits he's not worried about what kind of football the Clever Boys are playing.
"We only have 21 points," Hunt said. "The most important thing was the result, before the performance and the scoreline. That was the most important thing.
"To go down like we did and then come back so strongly was good for us. It showed good character and good fight.
"We weren't at our best, forget the result. I have seen us play better. The effort, heart and desire was there, and we scored goals which we haven’t done all season."
Next up for the Students is a home clash against Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership clash on Saturday evening.
Kick-off is at 18:00.
