Eymael wants Ngobeni on a permanent deal

Cape Town - Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael says the club has already begun negotiations with Mamelodi Sundowns over the possibility of signing Thela Ngobeni permanently.

Ngobeni helped Ea Lla Koto end their 24-year-old trophy drought last weekend, playing a key role as the club beat Maritzburg United 1-0 in the final to clinch the Nedbank Cup title.

Stars in the process qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup, and with Ngobeni hinting after the win that he is willing to stay at the Free State-based outfit.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper is in his second loan spell with Ea Lla Koto having struggled for game time at Sundowns, where he recently signed a new contract.

"Yes, I'm very keen to sign Ngobeni permanently from Sundowns," Eymael told Vodacom Soccer.

"But now we are discussing and I do not know what will happen exactly.

"If not, we will have to look to somebody who is free because we need absolutely a second good goalkeeper.

"We need to have two good goalkeepers like Ngobeni and Badra Ali Sangare. That’s the one thing I’m very sure of."
