Eymael: Phungwayo back to his best

Cape Town - Luc Eymael has praised the contribution of Patrick Phungwayo at Free State Stars, saying the defender has his confidence back as a result of playing regularly.

Phungwayo joined Ea Lla Koto at the start of the season having spent five seasons at Orlando Pirates.

The left-back had seen very little action in the previous campaign with the Soweto giants, but Eymael feels Phungwayo is showing his qualities again playing week in and week out at the Free State side.

The 30-year old has featured regularly in Stars' successful campaign so far compared to their struggles of the previous season, where the club was playing for survival.

They occupy fifth position in the Premiership standings and are also in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

"I think he has his confidence back that is why he has been playing so well," Eymael exclusively told Vodacom Soccer.

"He is a very good player who works hard all time and all that he needed was to play regular to get his confidence back.

"He is very experienced and is one of the senior players in our team.

"He listens to instructions from the coaches and leads by example in the field of play."
