Ex-SAFA president backs Sundowns for CAF glory

Cape Town - Former South African Football Association (SAFA) president Molefi Oliphant has backed Mamelodi Sundowns to win the 2016 CAF Champions League.

The Brazilians have been in dominant form in the continental completion where they are undefeated in three games.

Sundowns have powered to the semi-finals after victories over Enyimba (2-1) and Zamalek (1-0 and 2-1) in Group B.

"Sundowns will win it because every player has the heart of a lion. They have shown incredible hunger and team spirit," Oliphant told Daily Sun.

"The mere fact they went to Algeria and beat their champions (ES Setif) 2-0 was a magnificent achievement. Then they went on to beat Zamalek in Cairo and in Tshwane.

"That is unbelievable. Pitso has to be given a lot of credit for the way he has led and coached Sundowns."
