Ex-Chiefs player wants Mathoho-Coetzee partnership

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Frank ‘Disco’ Makua wants Amakhosi to sign Ajax Cape Town defender Rivaldo Coetzee.

Coetzee has been a tremendous figure in defence for both club and country over the past year.

The defender has built a strong relationship with Eric Mathoho in the Bafana Bafana jersey under the guidance of Shakes Mashaba as head coach.

According to Goal website, Makua wants Chiefs to splash the cash on the promising talent as he sees the defender the perfect fit alongside Mathoho.

“Chiefs need to rebuild their team from the defence because they seem to be conceding a goal almost every match,” Makua said.

“They have tried different combinations so far and it is clear that Ivan Bukenya is not comfortable playing as a centre-back and I do not think any of [Siyanda] Xulu or [Morgan] Gould can be able to replace Mashamaite.”

Makua deems that Bukenya, Xulu and Gould won’t fit the bill alongside Mathoho in order for the club to challenge for honours.

“The only solution for me is to get Coetzee because he is a young top defender though I know it will take something special for Ajax to sell him locally,” he said.
