Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe 'Rama' Mphahlele says the Amakhosi players are hard at work in preparation for the new Absa Premiership season.
Chiefs returned to work on Monday and the experienced defender is adamant that having a good pre-season is crucial ahead of the new campaign that will include playing in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Patrick Mabedi, who was in charge of the club following the resignation of Steve Komphela late last season is overseeing Amakhosi's pre-season as the club is yet to announce a new coach.
Mphahlele stated that he kept his body in good shape during the off-season by regularly working out in the gym.
"Having a good pre-season is the foundation for the season,” Mphahlele told his club's website.
"Everybody is working hard to get in shape. I regularly went to the gym. Working a lot on core."
The Amakhosi defender also said he has been following the World Cup in Russia and is disappointed that his team Germany has been eliminated from the tournament in the group stage.
"I am little distraught right now because my team, Germany, went out on Wednesday night.
"Luckily the other team I support, Spain, is still hanging in there."
