Ernst hails return of Joseph Molangoane from broken leg

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp admitted his delight at seeing winger Joseph Molangoane return to first team action after recovering from a broken leg.

Molangoane broke his leg in the opening game of the season in an MTN8 quarter-final against Free State Stars and thereafter was on the long road to recovery.

However, the player has finally returned to full fitness and came on as a substitute for Siphosakhe Nitiya-Ntiya during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows.

He told reporters: "Compliments to Joseph, I was very happy to see him and take him in [to the field of play]. He's worked really hard over the last few months.

"I know he's not 100 percent, but you always think, maybe with one cross or one one-against-one with his experience he can put something into place.

"But, okay, that's how it is. The 15-20 minutes here will build him up to come back to competitive performance and that's good, we'll work it out."

The German added that Khama Billiat being omitted from the line-up was due to a knock rather than the minor car accident he suffered recently.

He concluded: "Immediately after the game in Port Elizabeth, he was already indicating that there are some heavy hamstring issues.

"That was the decision, that he was not available for this game. Ja, let's leave it like this."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
