Ekstein's deal in Azerbaijan way better than Chiefs, says agent

Cape Town - Hendrick Ekstein's agent says the player's contract in Azerbaijan with Sabah FC earns him a lot more money than he did with Kaizer Chiefs.

Ekstein left Chiefs towards the end of the 2018/19 season when negotiations over a new deal broke down because the attacking midfielder thought the offer made to him was too low.

He subsequently exited Naturena and has now found a new home in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

His agent Palesa Mkhize commented on the matter: "Pule travelled safe and he was well received in Azerbaijan. He arrived there this morning and did his medicals. The club will make an official announcement about signing him. It's a two-year deal.

"He's got a deal that's way better than what he was getting at Chiefs. It's good money and all that the boy needs do now is to work hard. Let's hope he won't miss home very much, but that he will stay focused so that he can make progress in his career.

"It's the first time that he goes to play abroad. But he is a big boy and he knows what he wants. He is very keen to work hard. He is very excited for the opportunity he has got to play overseas. God works in mysterious ways."

Ekstein made 69 Absa Premiership appearances for the Glamour Boys since 2014/15 while scoring a miserly three league goals.
