Cape Town - Former Ajax Cape Town midfielder Ziyaad Eksteen is looking to revive his playing career with Maritzburg United, after recently signing for the club as a free agent.
The 21-year-old was released by the Urban Warriors at the end of last season after failing to break through into the first team under coach Stanley Menzo.
Eksteen was hampered by a long-term injury and made just one appearance for the Ikamva outfit in 2016/17.
As such, it seems his prospects of breaking into the Absa Premiership and making a name for himself are improving as he appeared on the bench for the Team of Choice in last weekend's 0-0 draw with Bidvest Wits.
Eksteen started his career in Ajax's youth academy and was promoted to the first team at the age of 18. He went on to play a pivotal role for the U19 team in the successes at the Copa Amsterdam in 2013 and 2014.
Big things were expected of him although injuries largely curtailed his chances. However, Eksteen now has a chance to resurrect his career under the tutelage of Maritzburg coach Fadlu Davids.
