Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns will look to continue their fine form in the Absa Premiership when they host Orlando Pirates.

Sundowns claimed a third successive league win and extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches with a 3-1 home win over Free State Stars on November 21.

The Tshwane side has claimed 13 points from five home matches this season.

The Brazilians are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 11 matches.

Pirates recorded their second successive league win when they beat Ajax Cape Town 2-1 away on November 4.

The Soweto side has claimed seven points from five away matches this season.

The Buccaneers are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 11 points from nine matches.

In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Pirates have met in 61 league matches since 1985.

The Brazilians have 25 wins compared to 19 for the Buccaneers, while 17 matches have been drawn.

Sundowns have won 12 of their 31 home matches against Pirates, suffering nine defeats in the process.

Last season Bucs took four points off the Brazilians, winning 3-0 away before being held 1-1 at home in the return match.

‘Downs have not beaten Pirates at home in the league since the 2009/10 season.

Kick-off is at 15:30 on Sunday, December 20.
