Dove signs 4-year Cape Town City extension

Cape Town - Cape Town City defender Edmilson Dove has signed a four-year contract extension with the Citizens, putting an end to transfer speculation.

Dove had been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but has opted to pledge his future to Benni McCarthy's side instead.

The versatile Mozambican defender, who can also play in the midfield, initially signed for City in January 2017.

"CTCFC is delighted to announce that Edmilson Dove has signed a new 4year deal, extending beyond 2022," wrote the Citizens on their official Twitter account.

City recently confirmed that Taariq Fielies, Dove's fellow defender, also signed a five-year extension, having lost former captain and centre-back Robyn Johannes to Bidvest Wits after last season.

City will face Golden Arrows in the Premiership on Saturday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
