Doctor praises 'mentor' Baxter

Cape Town - Doctor Khumalo has praised Stuart Baxter for the role he feels he has played in his own development as a coach.

The pair worked together successfully at Kaizer Chiefs, during which time they helped secure two league titles, a Nedbank Cup triumph as well as an MTN8 trophy.

After the club's last title success in 2014/15, Baxter moved on and has since made his way to SuperSport United, where he won the Nedbank Cup last season.

Meanwhile, Khumalo stayed on at Chiefs and served as assistant coach to Steve Komphela for 2015/16.

However, he parted ways with Komphela prior to the start of the current campaign and was replaced by John Paintsil.

Nonetheless, Khumalo has praised Baxter for the positive influence he has had on his career, and added that the English-born coach had taught him so much about the game.

He told Soccer Laduma: "We have the likes of Stuart Baxter, my mentor and someone I have learned so much from about the game.

"He knows just how highly I rate him; he's an unbelievable coach."
