Doc backs Shabba for record

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Doctor Khumalo believes skipper Siphiwe Tshabalala has what it takes to break his appearance record for the club.

Tshabalala was recently honoured by the club for reaching a milestone of 300 appearances for Amakhosi since joining in 2007, and Khumalo has backed the 31-year-old winger to break his club record of 397 appearances for Amakhosi.

"I just want to congratulate Shabba on reaching 300 caps, I know very well he wants to reach 397," Khumalo told Goal website.

"He is a good player, he has done very well for the club and nation - Bafana Bafana. But, I hope and wish he reaches 400 games with the club. I wish him all the best of luck."

Chiefs coach Steve Komphela also took time to praise Tshabalala's accomplishment and irreproachable professionalism.

"This achievement should serve as an inspiration to all the other Kaizer Chiefs players," Komphela said.
