Desperate Rhulani eager for Bucs win at Highlands

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates interim coach Rhulani Mokwena said the players and staff at the club are aware of the desperate situation they find themselves in but know a positive result could spark a turnaround.

The Soweto giants sit in 10th place on the Absa Premiership log table after a 1-0 defeat to newly-promoted Stellenbosch on Saturday.

The Buccaneers, who have only won twice in eight league matches this season, face a tough test when they take on an in-form Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Mokwena said the club must draw on similar experiences they have had to move past the current situation.

The interim coach said in quotes on the Pirates website: "Over the years, Pirates have found themselves in a similar position where we desperately needed a result that will spark a resurgent.

"We are painfully aware of the position we find ourselves in and tonight will be a test of character for the boys.

"The loss to Stellenbosch was a setback and we had to take a hard look at ourselves and see what needs to be done to improve the situation.

"We have put that match behind us now and with the games coming thick and fast there is no time to dwell on the negatives."

After the game against the Lions of North, Mokwena and charges will then prepare for the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs to be played on Saturday.
